Description

My father has loved Prunus cerasifera ‘Nigra’ for as long as I can remember. Every winter, when the weather is bleak and cold, he watches the buds of these trees, waiting for the moment they burst open revealing the lovely pink blossoms within. For this reason, I have a soft spot for this flower, and drew it for his 70th birthday. Prunus cerasifera ‘Nigra’ is common along roadsides in the suburbs where I grew up, and I’m sure it’s a familar sight to many who live in Melbourne.
