Description
Scarlet Robins often appear as a vibrant flash of colour in the corner of your eye. Although they are bushland birds, flitting through open woodlands, they can frequently be spotted perched on wire fences or low branches, where they dart down to the ground to catch insects. They have an endearing shape with a round body and relatively large head. As depicted in this drawing, the breast of a Scarlet Robin is bright red, contrasting sharply with the black throat and head. A prominent white patch of feathers is obvious directly above the beak. Spotting Scarlet Robins in grasslands and urban parks is always a delightful experience, especially during the bleakness of winter.
