Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoos occasionally fly over Melbourne, and it’s always a delight to hear their distinctive raspy calls as they pass by. You can spot them shredding pine cones in the Royal Botanic Gardens or among the native Sheoaks in the suburbs. Watching juvenile cockatoos can be especially entertaining, because despite being the same size as adult birds, they demand attention by crying loudly as they follow their parents around in the trees.
